Explore the Southern half of the Austral Road which runs from Coyhaique to Caleta Yungay. Imagine driving along a road with stunning views of fjords, stunning Andes mountains, waterfalls, hot springs, glaciers and lakes. You can also visit small cities and idyllic villages of a singular beauty, filled with history and traditions.

Itinerary
Departure from the airport in Balmaceda. Car ride across the Austral road until arrival at Coyhaique (45 Km. paved road).
Accommodation at Mirador de Guadal
Drive southwards towards Puerto Guadal (277 Km. paved and unpaved road / 5 hours approx.)
On the way you will be able to explore the village of Villa Cerro Castillo, Puerto Rio Tranquilo on the shore of the General Carrera Lake, and the exceptional “Marble Chapels”.
Accommodation at Mirador de Guadal.
We recommend a Visit to Valle Exploradores. Highlights: Lago Tranquilo, La Nutria waterfalls, Lago Bayo, Exploradores Park & Exploradores Glacier, La Teresa. Or any activities or hikes around Puerto Guadal (several options)

Driving south to Caleta Tortel (203 Km. non-paved road), you will see the confluence of Baker & Nef Rivers and on the way to Cochrane, the road runs along a valley surrounded by snowed peaks.
Caleta Tortel the final destination is a village located on Baker Fjord, where the streets have been replaced by footbridges.
Accommodation at Entre Hielos Lodge
Driving back North to Cochrane (128 Km.), you will see the “Cochrane Lake”, Tamango Reserve, San Lorenzo Hill amongst other incredible landscapes.
Accommodation at Último Paraíso
Early in the morning, depart northwards to Puerto Guadal (75 Km.), In the afternoon we recommend a drive on the Southern shore of General Carrera Lake and / or having a hike to the “fossil” mountain.
Accommodation at Terra Luna Lodge
Departure to Balmaceda (241 Km.) airport to return the car (estimated: 5 hour-drive).
From November 2020 until April 2021: USD 1589 per person in double basis.
Rate includes:
- 7 days of car rental Pickup double cabin 4x2, manual transmission (Mazda BT50 or similar), unlimited mileage and collision damage waiver.
- Accommodation in selected hotels with breakfast
Important Notes:
- International driver’s license is required for car rental, as well as being over 25 years old.
- Entrance fees to places of tourist interests not included. Approximate costs: Explorer’s Glacier Viewpoint USD 8, Laguna San Rafael National Park USD7.
