An adventure along the northern half of the legendary Carretera Austral. Explore the unexplored trails of the Queulat and Pumalin Parks and ferry through stunning fjords, pristine lakes, hot springs and glaciers. Pick up car rental at meeting point in Chaiten. The village has many nearby attractions, El Amarillo hot Springs (30Kms), Caleta Gonzalo (56Kms, here the Ferry from Puerto Montt arrives) and Parque Pumalín, Santa Barbara beach (12Kms).

On the route going south, visit Puerto Cardenas and Lago Yelcho (46Kms) , Villa Santa Lucia and La Junta (154 Km. paved road) where you can load fuel or have lunch. Then take the X-12 Route towards Puerto Raul Marin Balmaceda, following the Palena river.

Departure to Balmaceda Airport (277Kms), on the way south the passengers could visit The Queulat National Park with its beautiful trails and the magnificent Ventisquero Colgante (Hanging Glacier).
Find Rio Cisnes and the impressive Piedra el Gato, following south the Carretera Austral is the small town of Villa Amengual. Then you will find lake Las Torres, a unique place to do fly fishing, then pass Mañihuales and finally Coyhaique to go to the airport to return the rental vehicle.
