The Pantanal is the best place to see a great variety and abundance of wildlife in the Americas. Itinerary

Arrival at Campo Grande Airport. Upon arrival, a bilingual guide will greet you and you will be transferred to the ZAGAIA HOTEL in Bonito (290 km – 3:30hrs). 

Arrival, check-in and accommodation. Dinner at the hotel.

Accommodation at Zagaia Hotel.

Following breakfast, start your tour to visit the Blue Lake Cave – considered Bonito´s postal card. The Blue Lake Cave is a contemplative and historical tour that starts with a 300m walk until the entrance of the cave where it is already possible to see its breathtaking beauty. Descending 300 steps carved into the rocks visitors will reach the bottom of the cave where a deep blue colored lake lies in quietness surrounded by fantastic speleothems (stalactites and stalagmites) thousands of years old. At a depth of more than 80mts, the lake is home to tiny albinus fresh water shrimp, as well as the skeletons of prehistoric extinct animals such as the Giant Sloth dating back more than 12.000 years old. At the reception bar, bathrooms and gift shop. All gear necessary for the tour is included.

Restrictions: Children are allowed only from 5 years old;  People with limited mobility, hypertensive, people suffering from Labyrinthitis, heart conditions, or claustrophobia can’t do this tour.
OBS: Closed shoes (sneakers, boots, etc) are mandatory for this tour. Distance: 20 km Duration: 1:30h.

At the end of the tour, transfer back to Bonito, taking another secondary road to visit the Sucuri River – Snorkeling tour with lunch A must-see! One of the world’s three clearest rivers. The tour starts with a pleasant hike through the gallery forest on an interpretive trail, allowing the observation of a very diversified fauna and flora.

This walk includes a visit to the headspring of the Sucuri River.  Snorkeling starts at the end of the trail, providing stunning views of the freshwater environment, with many fish and lush aquatic vegetation embellishing the way, on a 1.800m snorkeling circuit. During the tour, a supporting boat is available for those who might get tired, or just want to see all the beauty from inside the boat.

Restrictions: Children under 3 years old are not allowed and must stay at the main house accompanied by an adult. Optional activities: Boat trip and Hiking. Distance: 19 Km Duration: Half or Full Day. . After the end transfer back to hotel in Bonito. 

Overnight.

Breakfast. Check-out. At 7:30am private transfer to the CAIMAN LODGE in Pantanal (170km – 3:30hrs),  stopping on the way to visit the BOCA DA ONÇA ECOTOUR – Hiking and waterfalls with lunch – The tour starts with a 4km hike through the pristine forest, passing by more than ten crystal-clear waterfalls, the scenic Salobra River and natural pools.

The highlight is the tour is Boca da Onça Waterfall, with its height of 156 meters (512 ft), making it the State’s highest waterfall. After relaxing and gazing at the Boca da Onça Waterfall in a special wooden deck right in front of it, it’s time to continue, making the way back by climbing 866 steps that meander up the rocky wall that leads to the end of the tour, offering many resting points to observe the breathtaking views of the Salobra River Canyon. At the end of the steps visitors will also be met with the highest Rapel Free Platform in Brazil.

Restrictions: This tour has a moderate difficulty, as it requires some physical resistance to walk up and down the stairs and paths.

After the end of the tour (around 3pm), private transfer to the chosen lodge in Pantanal. Arrival and check-in. Accommodation. Dinner. Free night. Overnight.

 Notes: On the departure day, the ideal is to fly out of Campo Grande as late as possible in order to optimize your last day in Pantanal, allowing for the morning activity and lunch.

Several tracks around the lodge provide the opportunity to observe small animals and the rich flora to the Pantanal, offering a close contact with the environment. Reinforcing its conservation guidelines, the Caiman Ecological Refuge alternates the tracks to minimize ecological impacts.

A pleasant hike around the Main House, stopping by the Onçafari Jaguar Conservation Project headquarters and Environmental Interpretation Center. The hike ends at the Ponte do Paizinho (Paizinho Bridge) where visitors will be able to observe a large population of Caimans that stand still waiting for the fish to swim straight into their mouths. It’s a magical moment when that offers the chance to get very close to the Caimans, one of the most iconic species in Pantanal.

 

An excursion on our vehicles on Caiman’s roads to take beautiful photos of the Pantanal’s flora and fauna, accompanied by our guides. During this tour it is possible to observe the peculiarities and contrasts of the vegetation, as well as a great variety of animals. This tour can be combined with other activities such as hiking in the forest and the Night Safari.

Done around the fresh water lakes around the lodges (SEDE and BAIAZINHA). The guests row in three-seat Canadian canoes and contemplate the nearby vegetation and water birds up close. It is also a good opportunity to hear the local sounds and admire the fantastic Pantanal’s sunset.

Night tour operated in 4×4 adapted open vehicles, using a powerful long range torch to observe crepuscular and nocturnal animals like anteaters, foxes, capybaras and caimans. Also to hear the sounds of frogs and insects at night and the beautiful sky of the Pantanal. 

Our modified Jeeps go off road to explore areas otherwise unseen, offering a closer contact with the local wildlife.
